Mythbusters Season 5
I love this show! If you are not familiar
with the series, Mythbusters takes urban legends and scenarios presented
by viewers and the hosts themselves and figures out if the events could
actually occur. Ranging from the absurd to the highly factual, the
Mythbusters team present science to the viewer along with a sense of
adventure.
This is a massive set. Spanning 8 DVDs, this set titled Season 5 did
have me perplexed at first. You see, even though this is titled Season
5, I remember seeing some of these shows and for me this is a bit out of
sequence. Checking my facts during reviewing this show, I realised that
this is actually Season 6 in the proper airing timeframe. At least for a
lot of the episodes in any case. I don't fully understand what is going
on here but, as long as you are collecting the Australian releases you
should be fine.
The 'busters have a very unique way of doing things, ways that often
involve lots of explosives, vehicles and ninjas! Turning situations on
their heads and then explaining just how the heck they are proving their
points is just a part of what makes Mythbusters such compelling viewing.
You would think after all this time that the guys would be running out
of stuff to prove or disprove, but that is hardly the case. The really
cool thing about the show is that it has such a massive following that
even the viewers send in myths for the team to bust. It really does
smack of a vibrant community that all want to have fun with each other
and the guys on the show. Testament to that is the fact that the program
is now in its ninth season with no slow down.
There are a number of specials that are featured in this collection and
viewers of the series will be very happy to see how well the DVD
collection has been put together. This is a darn good series and also
the content for the most part is family friendly enough for everyone to
enjoy. I am sincerely looking forward to further releases of Mythbusters
from Magna.
The quality of the video and audio on this show is standard for a
modernish release with nothing really to complain about or compliment
for that matter. It is just a really fun show to watch and even learn
some stuff from.
Highly recommended.
