McLintock brings
together two Hollywood greats, John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Wayne
stars as George Washington McLintock, a proud cattle farmer whose
life is thrown into turmoil when his headstrong wife (O'Hara)
returns home, even though McLintock was hoping to spend time with
daughter returning home from college. This John Wayne classic could
almost be considered a slapstick western that has the pair verbally
and sometimes almost physically abusing each other that will leave
you in stitches.
This movie is one of
those John Wayne classics where Wayne has the ability to really let
his hair down and try something that does not involve serious action
or drama. Although O'Hara and Wayne really work well in this movie,
there are also some hidden gems such as Patrick Wayne and Chill
Wills that will bring a smile to your face.
Once again Leonard
Maltin, self confessed John Wayne historian returns to the DVD with
a brilliant introduction and commentary and match that with a
variety of entertaining featurettes and one could be mistaken in
thinking they are in John Wayne heaven. Definitely a Hollywood
classic!
