Jonathon Creek is a cleverly created crime mystery that revolves around Madeline Magellan (Caroline Quentin), an investigative journalist who happens to get into more trouble than good.

Fortunately for Magellan while attempting to solve a case regarding a famous artist, she stumbles upon Jonathon Creek (Alan Davies), a brilliant man who would also make a perfect "Doctor Who" who creates magical tricks for a stage magician named Adam Klaus.

An uneasy relationship soon forms between Madeline and Jonathon as the series takes a different twist, almost one of romance in the world of mystery. Creek is a shy man who is unable to disclose his feelings towards his new friend while Madeline, a more worldly women feels that she is falling for this brilliant man.

Together, they attempt to solve a variety of mysteries in this classic mystery series that features first class British acting which also features Colin Baker and Anthony Head. Even though the series is almost 10 years old, Jonathon Creek Series 1 is definitely a series recommended to lovers of roman and mystery.

The compilation also features some great special features such as the original screen tests of the two stars and an in-depth commentary by David Renwick, the series creator. For its age, the video and sound quality is quite impressive.
