The John Wayne classic Island in the Sky arrives on DVD that has not only been restore and remastered but also features one of the most in-depth special features of a movie from this era. The story revolves around a former army pilot called Dooley (John Wayne) who is forced to fly transport runs after the end of World War II.

Unfortunately for Dooley and his crew who happens to made up of an all-star cast which includes Murray (Jimmy Lydon), D’Annunzia (Wally Cassell), Stankowski (Hal Baylor) and co-pilot Lovatt (Sean McClory), they are forced to crash land in the middle of a frozen wasteland.

In its essence, this tale revolves around a group of men who against all unbeatable odds vow to escape this frozen wasteland with their wits, courage and human spirit. Definitely a classic John Wayne film with the Duke being supported well with this all-star cast through the talents of director William A. Wellman.

The restoration team at Paramount almost make this movie appear as it was filmed yesterday (if Black and White was the norm) that contains crisp pictures and a plethora of bright colours to truly immerse the viewer into the tale of courage and loyalty. For fans of the "Duke", this disc also contains a might array of extras which gives a true insight into the behind the scenes of Island in the Sky.
