House of Wax
I was really looking
forward to this release, having seen the original House of Wax when it
came out at much too young an age and it scared the crap outta me. Our
young stars in this version are well and truly up to the task of being
sexy young horror actors in a pretty neat movie.
The story if you
didn’t know if is what happens to a group of kids when they get trapped
in a house of wax (you know, like Madam Tussaud’s) but in this House of
Wax, all the showcases are murder victims with wax poured over them!
The pacing of this
movie is fantastic and the House of Wax itself is certainly a sight to
behold. It’s always tough to go into detail when it comes to a horror
movie as almost any plotline or commentary during the review is going to
give away a scare or wreck something. Suffice to say that the movie
truly delivers and presents you with some really tense moments as the
viewer.
The quality of both
the audio and video is excellent and a credit to the format. The extras
are also worth exploring with the BRoll commentary a lot of fun,
especially when you see Paris running up stairs. There are also some
hijinks with a pole but once again I’d be wrecking it for you.
I really like this
style of horror. There is a nice mix between the hot young stars and the
violence that takes place. The actors in this film do a convincing job
in a not so demanding film that you will enjoy nonetheless. Kudos to the
crew on this film for an absolute treat of a movie to watch.
I highly recommend
this one before Halloween! |
