Grass Roots Series 2
This is a quirky series that continues the
“adventures” from last season of the council from hell and the
machinations that go on in the background. This is a 10 part series that
covers quite a variety of themes that are sure to have you laughing at
the discomfort and awkward situations that the good folk at Arcadia
Waters find themselves in.
The way that the stories are told is pretty clever
with multiple tangents running through each episode so either you can
watch the one episode and get a kick out of it or if you plough your way
through the series (as you would if you buy the DVD), then you will
notice multiple arcs that will make sense to you, giving a greater
appreciation for how the show is put together.

Series writer Geoffrey Atherden, helms the way the
stories are put together and we know that it is in very capable hands.
Atherden was also behind Mother and Son, another fantastic Australian
series.
The thing I liked the best about Grass Roots was the very
human element behind every episode. Despite the fact that it is a
dramatic comedy, there is excellent character development throughout and
you really got the opportunity to identify with the cast. This type of
in-depth build up is a mark of excellent writing and acting by the very
capable cast who are convincing in their respective roles.
If you want an intelligent show to have a laugh along at,
then you could do a hell of a lot worse than Grass Roots Series 2. This
is one very well put together season and personally I cannot wait to see
more shows. Once again, Roadshow delivers the goods. Be sure to pick up
a copy as soon as it’s available.
