Fate Made Him A
Warrior, Courage Made Him A Hero
Fearless has been
touted as Jet Li’s final martial arts epic with the star playing the
legendary martial artist Huo Yuanjia, a fighter who represented
martial arts to the Chinese nation during the turn of the 20th
century. Plot wise, Fearless may become a little jaded and lost at
times, however its draw card is the amazing martial arts
choreography, thanks to Yen Wo Ping (The Matrix and Crouching Tiger,
hidden Dragon) that will leave you breathless.
With that said,
this movie really makes you appreciate the skill of all the fighters
involved for none of the battle features any computer generated
characters as the majority of effects are real and display the real
martial art prowess of the actors.
The story behind
Fearless follows the story of Huo Yuanjia and the personal battle he
faces in post-communist China that truly makes him a hero to the
nation with the extraordinary legacy he leaves. Not only a spiritual
battle but also a battle with the government in one of the most
extraordinary martial art tournaments in the world.
The direction,
acting and locales of Fearless are perfect and there is little to
fault in this martial arts epic that we would recommend to all
lovers of the genre. The video and sound quality of Fearless is
“flawless”, unfortunately no extras are included in this edition,
however the martial art choreography is worth the admission price
alone. Check it out!
