Empires - Peter & Paul and the Christian Revolution
This
perfect documentary revolves around the history of Christianity during
the 1st century. Once again masterfully narrated, this series uses actors to
assist in the re-enactments and expert information to give the
viewer a good knowledge of how Christianity started, with strong
opposition from the Roman Empire and Jerusalem.
A
clever "twist" to this
documentary is that it quotes certain gospels from the New Testament to assist in
the historical recreation of the early founders of Christianity. The
narration at times is almost godly, however it suits the theme
perfectly.
The
series does go into some detail of the inconsistencies of the Bible,
including historical evidence about one of the world's most powerful and
richest religions and how the story of Jesus has been
constantly evolving from its humble beginnings in the 1st century A.D.
to the Roman Empire finally embracing it as the definitive religion.
With
some great cinematography and locations, if you're looking to see how it
all started
through historical evidence and biblical quotes, than this is the
documentary for you.
Definitely one for the history lovers.
