Domo Nation
Having read the original Japanese comic,
I'm still thoroughly confused as to what "Domo" is or who but
nonetheless, this enigmatic character has a certain charm to it.
Domo is a strange creature who loves
watching TV and more importantly, eating everything in his path. He is
basically a force of nature and even his friends, Mr. Usaji, Tashanna,
Bear Boy and Hungry Bear cannot control this unpredictable creature.
Although don't put apples near Domo because this mischievous creature
cannot stand apples.
This DVD basically collects a variety of
his episodes (26 to be precise) into one accessible release that often
has Domo getting himself into some sort of accidental trouble which
generally requires his friends to help him out. I should comment that
"friends" is probably a loose word here because some of them actually
fear what Domo could do which is maybe the reason they allow him to stay
around.
The beauty about this character is his will
for life and every episode is an exploration for Domo as he learns
something new and unique about the world that he lives in.
The animation of Domo is also quite quirky
and lends itself very well to this character and the small segments of
his life that invites the viewer in, especially when he loses it over
the most simplest of things is a joy to watch. Also when Domo does
become angry, he does the most outrageous farts that I've had the
pleasure of experiencing.
Apart from the DVD, this release also comes
with a very cool Domo notebook so if you want to know what this force of
nature is all about and how he has spawned thousands of fan sites and
more merchandise than you can poke a stick it then this is the DVD for
you.
