Doctor Who the Hand of Fear
My favourite incarnation
of Doctor Who makes another triumphant return to DVD with Tom Baker
starring as the delightful and witty Doctor Who. These classic episodes of Doctor
Who once again throw our two heroes into turmoil with a peaceful visit
to Earth turning into a deadly nightmare for our good Doctor and his
beautiful yet
adventurous companion Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen).
Story: Upon arriving on Earth,
the Tardis lands within a quarry that is rigged with deadly explosives
that finds our heroine unconscious in a pile of rubble, clutching a
fossilized stone. The story then kicks into high gear when Sarah becomes to metamorph into a strange alien entity
that has the Doctor battling time in order to find a cure. Classic BBC
special effects, over the top acting by Baker and Sladen makes this an
extremely entertaining DVD with a real "cheese" factor.
The video and audio quality of the Hand of
Fear is rather impressive for a series that is over 30 years old which
was originally aired between the 2nd and 23rd of October in 1976. With
that said, the entire video and sound quality has been digitally
remastered to almost make the viewer think that this series was filmed
yesterday.
When it comes to extras, this DVD is packed
with a plethora of Doctor Who fun filled facts, amazing commentary by
Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen, documentaries, interviews and some
interesting PDF files. A must have for all Doctor Who fans.
