Doctor Who Green Death Special Edition
Although this has been available before, the special edition is far
superior as it comes with a whole wealth of special features that really
crams in as much Doctor Who content as possible. The story is also
pretty darn special and stars Jon Pertwee as Doctor Who with content
that is definitely before its time. The story actually involves an
environmental theme as the Doctor tackles pollution that results in the
creation of giant green maggots. Very cool!
The special effects are also to die for and the villain is quite
interesting, although it's a tad reminiscent of the super computer from
The Goodies. As the Doctor goes head to head with the villain B.O.S.S.,
he fortunately has help with his companion Jo Grant (Katy Manning) as
they attempt to rescue some Welsh Miners in this radical different
Doctor Who story. With over the top acting, special effects that
sometimes make you cringe, the story behind the Green Death is actually
quite powerful and given the age of this story, it makes it far
superior.
Video, Audio & Special Features
Both the video and audio are expected from a TV show of this age and
although its nothing too flash when watched on a FULL HD TV, thankfully
the Doctor Who story manages to save the day, especially the acting of
Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning. As mentioned, where this release does
shine is through the Special Features that include the making of the
special effects, a fake global conspiracy report and some informative
interviews. It's crammed full of Doctor Who titbits.

Final Thoughts?
All in all, a fun Doctor Who release for classic fans! The Doctor sums
this release up perfectly and to paraphrase him from the episode
"Devilish creatures spawned by the filthy by-products of your
technology"... it's classic BBC Doctor Who.
