The latest edition to the Doctor Who mythos has
finally arrived on DVD which stars David Tennant as the quirkiest
version of the good doctor and Freema Agyeman as his adventuring
companion. Featuring three entertaining episodes, Tennant does a
marvelous job at creating a definitive Doctor Who for the 21st
century with a healthy dose of comedy and action to make this a
thrilling science fiction series.
The first episode entitled "Smith and Jones"
introduces both characters as Martha finds herself on the moon and
encounters the mysterious Doctor Who. The second episode, "The
Shakespeare Code" has the Doctor and his companion travelling back
in time to Elizabethan England where they discover that William
Shakespeare is being controlled by witches. Last and probably my
favourite of this disc is "Gridlock" that transports our heroes to
the unforeseeable future, to New Earth where the heroes encounter a
deadly trap that only the Doctor can figure out.
Definitely a great addition to the Doctor Who
mythology. Only one complaint... the absence of special features!
Once again, this current series of Doctor Who is presented in
glorious 16:9 widescreen with Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo for that
almost cinematic experience.
