Closing the ring is masterfully created
by acclaimed film maker Lord Richard Attenborough (Ghandi) who
creates a romantic tale that is similar to the Notebook which
was released several years ago.
This love story encompasses no time as
it spans almost 50 years of history from World War II to the early
90's where a widower named Ethel Ann (Shirley MacLaine) has turned
to alcohol as she mourns her dad husband.
Forfeiting life for alcohol, she
ignores her daughter Marie until one fateful day, her daughter
receives a phone call from a man in Ireland who informs her that he
has found the ring of her mother.
From there, Ethel is brought out of her
depression and she recounts the tale of her undying love and the
secret pact she made between three close friends. The earlier Ethel
Ann is played by the delightful Mischa Barton and at the end of the
day, Closing the Ring is quite a heart wrenching tale that lovers of
all good romance films will thoroughly enjoy.
