A River somewhere (Series 1 & 2)
If you are as big a fan of fly fishing as me then you
don’t want to miss out on this fantastic series out from ABC DVD!
Starring Rob Sitch and Tom Gleisner, we go on an amazing voyage all over
the world in search of that elusive bite that means we’re getting some
dinner tonight. Take that one step further in their tradition of eating
the catch cooked in the local way.
This series spanning both volumes 1 and 2 is simply
stunning and being put together by the usual band of suspects (Sitch,
Gleisner, Cilauro and Kennedy) is sure fire entertainment that the whole
family will enjoy together. Don’t be put off by the fishing angle (get
it? Angle? Fishing?), as there is a great deal of traveling by various
modes of transport and things to see that get in the way of throwing
anything into the water. The destinations are gorgeous and our traveling
companions are simply brilliant.
The technical quality of the disc is good and no
complaints, same for audio. The production was shot for television and
has an aspect ratio of 4:3. The audio is crisp clear stereo. Series 1
was produced in 1997 and Series 2 was in 1998. Highly enjoyable, well
put together and certainly up there with other fantastic
travel/journey/fishing type docos.
Only regret is that we didn’t get to hear the CD
soundtrack by itself as the review copies did not come with it.
Give yourself the time to experience A River Somewhere,
you will not regret it.
