Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens

This charming documentary from PBS showcases the amazing talents Annie Leibovitz and is produced by Annie’s own sister, Barbara Leibovitz. Although Annie Leibovitz has led quite a colourful life, her sister focuses on the positives of her career and showcases her styles and clients throughout the years.

As chief photographer for Rolling Stone in the 1970’s, Annie became quite the iconic photographer that eventually led her in being one of Vanity Fair’s preferred photographers.

The documentary also highlights the variety of subjects that she has photographed from Bette Midler to Arnold Schwarzenegger not to mention war torn countries such as Sarajevo and Rwanda.

Her love for photography came from her gypsy-like childhood as her father was an Air Force Officer and she spent much of the time traversing the globe. Becoming a house hold name in the United States and quite famous across the globe, her other famous subjects included John Lennon and Hilary Clinton but she also focuses on the "normal" people of humanity that is also portrayed in this documentary.

Annie Leibovitz is truly an insight documentary into the life of one of America's most celebrated photographers that makes this compelling viewing for anyone interested in photography and what drives a photographer.
