Jedi Master!

Master Indara is a Jedi Master of great physical and mental skill. She has exacting control of her Force abilities, exuding a sense of command and authority with just her presence. Though she does not seek combat, she is skilled enough to engage on her own terms – Starwars.com

The new Disney+ series The Acolyte has torn asunder the Star Wars fandom and we’re not here to provide a review on this new story or the online chatter – we are however here to provide a review of DamienSaber’s new Lightsaber inspired by the Jedi Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) from The Acolyte which is nothing short of stunning. For the uninitiated, The Acolyte is set in The High Republic Era that follows Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) who is reunited with his former padawan Osha (Amandla Stenberg) to investigate the deaths of several closely linked Jedi to a past event.

As the mystery unfolds, we discover that Master Sol, Indara, Torbin (Dean-Charles Chapman) and Wookie Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo) were seeking potential padawans in the fringes of the outer galaxy that led them to the planet of Dathomir where a coven of witches called The Nightsisters wielded the force as dark magic. This peaceful confrontation with the Nightsister ended in disaster and many years later, it created a devastating event, including the emergence of a powerful new villain.

.

Given that The Acolyte was just released and with the limited information on Indara’s Lightsaber, DamienSaber has done an amazing job of recreating this powerful weapon from the Star Wars universe. Like previous hilts from this company, they verge on movie quality replicas and it really compliments your imagination on how they should feel in terms of size and weight. According to Starwars.com, “Master Indara’s lightsaber, with its brilliant green blade, is carried on her belt as a symbol of the Jedi’s pursuit as guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy”, in other words… Jedi badass!

This weapon is your life – Obi-Wan Kenobi

The hilt is made from an aluminum alloy that adds to the overall aesthetics, including its two-tone colouring. Also supporting the true Jedi (or Sith) experience is the sturdy Polycarbonate blade(s) and yes, this version is available in either a medium or light dueling blade. With the medium dueling blades, this means you can fight other Jedi or Sith who wield a similar weapon!

Cost wise, the lightsaber retails from $299USD ($447AUD)  for the Xenopixel 3.0 model or $359 ($573AUD) for the Proffie 2.2 model, including three different blade lengths available, 36″ (92cm), 32″ (82cm) and 28″ (72cm). Interestingly, this new lightsaber from DamienSaber comes with the all-new pogo pin core that makes dismantling easier and more importantly, considerably sturdier for dueling.

As you can see from the above images and to quote Obi Wan Kenobi, “This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age” – of course slicing a limb off with a lightsaber or shooting them dead with a blaster, I can see why Ben Kenobi thought the Jedi weapon was more elegant. 😊 Of course, Han Solo thought otherwise “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no substitute for a good blaster at your side”. 😊

I see you have constructed a new lightsaber. Your skills are complete. Indeed you are as powerful as the Emperor has foreseen – Darth Vader

Just like a Jedi or Sith, you need to construct the DamienSaber The Acolyte Jedi Master Indara Lightsaber and although you don’t need a Kyber crystal to power this weapon, there is a battery. DamienSaber also ensures that you have everything you need to insert the blade into the hilt which includes two Allen Keys and two types of screws that is dependent on blade. The last part of the setup is to unscrew the hilt in order to remove the Kyber Crystal battery, turn it on, then replace and tighten…

The Unboxing

The DamienSaber Lightsaber The Acolyte Jedi Master Indara is well packed and comes with everything you need to start your own adventure

The designers at DamienSaber certainly pay homage to the High Republic Era from its simplicity in the design

The metallic hilt is indeed a work of art and successfully channels the core of what a Star Wars lightsaber is

Three discrete screws securely hold the polycarbonate in place which is done in around a minute or so.

Charging is via the included USB-C cable

Welcome to the Order!

Using the DamienSaber Lightsaber The Acolyte Jedi Master Indara is a thoroughly enjoyable experience and another highlight of this product is the excellent accompanying app. This app easily allows you to change the fonts (e.g. themes) such as the colour and sound effects which mirror their Star Wars counterparts. Although it doesn’t mention their names specifically, you do know which one is Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. Additionally you can tweak the volume and other customisation options to help build the illusion.

One issue that I did find with this version of the lightsaber was that at times, sometimes the app would dropout and I’m guessing this is due to a Bluetooth issue and for the most part, it was a flawless experience… unless of course there was some cortosis metal lying around that was causing it to short circuit (see Episode 5 of The Acolyte). Lastly you can control some elements of the lightsaber with the button and there is a manual to let you know all the controls. This is fiddly but good for quick changes that cosplayers will enjoy.

And below is my inner Star Wars geek celebrating this new lightsaber from DamienSaber.

Final Thoughts?

Once again DamienSaber delivers a totally immersive experience courtesy of the realistic hilt, blade and more importantly visual and audio effects. Best of all, DamienSaber provides fans like myself a way to celebrate their fandom and be a little closer to the heroes and villains they love.

Brilliant!
