Cult of the Lamb: Pilgrim Pack DLC PC Review
Summary: Add more cute and creepy to your favourite little cultist lamb game.
4.4
Cult Content
Much like someone joining a cult well after it has gained a significant following… I am new to Cult of the Lamb but have heard a lot about it. So what better way to jump into the dark world than with a DLC pack?
For those who want a TLDR version, the DLC includes
A “choose your own path” comic about the journey of Jalala and Rinor
A unique quest
5 new follower forms: Panda, Skunk, Anteater, Camel and Echidna
2 new outfits for your followers to wear and a silken fleece for the Lamb
5 new decorations
It’s always nice when DLC doesn’t just provide some glossy new skins but actually gives something a bit more significant and the little comic here is certainly an interesting way to add some value to the pack. It works as essentially a digital comic that you click through and at certain points you will need to make a choice, e.g. go one way or another. It’s not what I would normally expect from a DLC but it adds a nice break from the main game whilst adding to the overall lore of the game.
I began my little cultist play on my own but my son was keen to have a go as well so we fired up some local co-op and with me on keyboard (despite the game “recommending” a controller… the keyboard and mouse are very comfortable to play with) and my son on the game pad we made some progress… I mean it’s still progress if I accidentally made a meal that killed one of my followers (I didn’t read the recipe description before making it)… we made use of the followers’ remains so at least we were recycling?
For those who have been playing the game for a while, the ability to select your followers’ appearance can be one of the cute little factors that set your flock apart. With the new forms you have the option to either expand the variety of your followers… or simply pick a new form to have all your followers take. Setting up your little cult home, decorating it and preaching to your followers all seem so innocent… and indeed your lovely little lamb looks innocent… until you start thrashing your weapon around and that cute little face turns menacing.
Ultimately this DLC is some more visual style with the addition of a new quest and a digital semi interactive comic, but for fans of the game I’d say this is a nice addition.
Grab a copy and expand your flock… or ritualistically kill them all, I’m not your otherworldly leader… play how you want.
