Manga has a variety of different genres and the
Nana series proves that
this popular format has the ability to draw the viewer into almost
anything.
Unlike what some call traditional
Manga such as science
fiction, cyber-punk or medieval themes, Nana is more like Sex in the
City meets Japanese culture in this sexy series about the Nana's.
Starring Nana Osaki (Nana O), a vivacious and attractive punk
singer, she is joined by Nana Komatsu (Nana K) who is the exact
opposite of Nana O and often finds herself in situations that
require Nano O to help.
In this current volume, Nana K forces an unwilling Nana O to one of the
country's best concerts, The Trapnest in an attempt to ignite a past
relationship. Of course, things don't always go according to plan as a
variety of spanners and subplots are thrown into the mechanics that
makes this series a breath of fresh air.
Creator, Ai Yazawa
(writer and artist) once again
delivers on her previous books with some great characters, awkwardly
funny moments and realistic situations that once proves why her
books are so popular.
Manga for everyone!
