Husband and Wife is the latest novel
from Leah Stewart (The Myth of You and Me) which is the story of a
poet named Sarah Price who is married to Nathan, a novelist. Early
on in the novel we learn that Sarah
gave up her career to become a mother and to support her partner's career in
writing. Although they have the perfect life with a lovely home,
good friends and children, there is something more sinister to this
perfect relationship.
One night, Nathan tells Sarah that the
book he recently completed called Infidelity is not all fiction and
that some parts of the book are based on actual affairs that he has
had
throughout the the duration of their "perfect" marriage. However,
an even bigger betrayal to Sarah is the fact that Nathan cheated on her
when she was pregnant with their youngest child.
To complicate the situation even
further, the women is question appears to lead
the life that Sarah pictures herself to lead if she didn't marry
Nathan and have children. Sarah tires her hardest to make this
relationship work but is this a possibility after such a huge
betrayal. This is the engaging story of one women's journey to find
who she is as a mother, wife and professional.
Leah Stewart has a unique writing style
as it makes you believe that Sarah is writing the book which makes it
easier to engage with book because the characters are so realistic.
All in all, this is a gripping and suspenseful story about one women's
journey through the ups and downs of life which her forces to
re-evaluate everything life has to offer.
