Arise is book
number 2 in the Hereafter romance mystery series that focuses
on the love between a young man and a ghost. The protagonists of the
story are Amelia, a ghost who is unable to pass onto the afterlife
and Joshua, a man who has the ability to speak with the dead.
To make matters
worse, Joshua comes from a family of seers who not only have the
power to speak with the dead but also move them onto the after
world. If there unspeakable romance is discovered by his family,
their relationship may soon end. Also, Amelia begins to fear that
they never may find happiness which causes her to break off their
romance. However as love is a powerful entity, this is also the
catalyst for the reader which helps draw you into their world.
With that in mind, author Tara Hudson should be commended on
creating such likeable and real characters who never feel too forced
or contrived. As the book is firmly based in the modern world, she
unleashes the supernatural without it being overburdening or causing
the characters to be overshadowed.
With twists,
romance and mystery, Arise is a book that can easily be read and
before long, you are finished and wondering what will happen in the
final book of the series. Unfortunately there are a few unanswered
questions at the end of Arise, especially with their relationship
that won't be revealed until the final book.
Nonetheless it was
a refreshing read from start to finish.
