Bitdefender Android Malware Threat Report
Bitdefender has released its Android Malware threat report for H2 2015 and we thought you might be interested in some of the findings – particularly in Australia.
Top level findings:
- Android ransomware plagued Australian users during Q3 and Q4 2015, as the malware family ranked first in our charts. With more than 34.19 percent of all reports in Q3 2015, the Android.Trojan.Slocker malware family occupied pole position in Q4 as well, with 30.30 percent.
- The Android.Trojan.SMSSend – the one responsible for overcharging users via text messages to premium rated numbers – ranked third in Q3 with 7.54 percent, but Q4 dropped to fourth place with 5.80 percent of the total number of malware reports.
- Noteworthy is that, while the percentages dropped for all malware families in Q4 versus Q3, the Android.Trojan.Slocker ransomware family actually got a boost of 0.89 percentage points during the last quarter of 2015. While the increase is not extremely high, it’s interesting because all other malware reports experience percentage drops.
