BELKIN® LAUNCHES USB-C CAR CHARGER + CABLE WITH POWER DELIVERY

Tuggerah, NSW – June 9, 2016 – Belkin has today launched the industry’s first USB-C Car Charger + Cable with power delivery, making it easier to charge smartphones, tablets, wearables and ultrabooks in the car using a universally compatible device. The sturdy, 1.2 metre long (four-foot) cable reaches from the power source to passenger seats and hidden power outlets, making it easier to plug in and charge anytime.

Key features of the Belkin USB-C Car Charger + Cable (http://belk.in/usbc-incar):

  • USB-PD (Power Delivery) compatible charger
  • Includes a USB-IF certified USB-C-to-C cable
  • Supports 5V and 9V USB-PD up to 3A, total 27W output
  • Leverages the latest USB-C technology on the move, including the convenient reversible connector
  • Ability to charge 5V/3A-capable smartphones up to 70 percent faster[1] (than standard 5W chargers) and charge larger devices, such as tablets and ultrabooks using 9V USB-PD output.
  • Compatible with most brands, and supports USB 2.0 data transfer for existing devices

“We believe that USB-C is next generation technology, which delivers safe, speedy and convenient charging to consumers looking for the highest quality experience when it comes to mobile power and accessories,” said Melody Saffery, senior director of product management at Belkin.

“While USB-C accessories are an ideal solution for consumers looking for a universal charging solution, uncertified cables and accessories may not work or can damage their devices. Our USB-C accessories are engineered and tested to meet the highest international standards for quality, and are all certified and guaranteed so that consumers can rest assured that their devices are protected.”

Belkin was the first manufacturer to produce USB-IF certified cables. USB-IF certified vendors are becoming the norm, with retail giants like Amazon announcing they will no longer accept third party vendors that are not USB-IF certified. USB certification requires rigorous testing and indication by an emblem on the packaging. Belkin recently published a whitepaper on USB-C to help people understand what USB-C is and how it differs from other cables. This whitepaper can be downloaded here: Http;//belk.in/usbcnow

Belkin’s new USB-C Car Charger + Cable supports faster or higher power outputs on the Google  Chromebook Pixel™, Pixel C™, Nexus 6P™, Nexus 5X, Microsoft® Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, and on the iPad Pro™ 12.9” model with separate USB-C to Lightning cable sold by Apple®.  It also supports other USB-C devices on the market such as the LG G5 at typical charging speeds.

Availability

The new USB-C Car Charger + Cable is available now (MSRP $79.95) from Belkin.com.au, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
