Backbone and PlayStation launch new collaboration for Android

Leading platform for cloud gaming on mobile devices Backbone and Sony today announced the launch of Backbone One – PlayStation Edition Mobile Gaming Controller for Android, available for pre-order now and in Australia from 6 July 2023 for $179 at leading Australian retailers JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, Big W, The Gamesmen and more, in-store and online.

Designed in collaboration with PlayStation, the new device picks up many of the design cues from the PS5 console’s DualSense wireless controller, including the classic button designs and icons. This product is uniquely recognized as a DualSense by the PS Remote Play App, enabling gamers to play their favourite PS4 and PS5 games on their Android device from anywhere.

Gift with purchase is also available with selected retailers in Australia. Every-pre order of the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition Mobile Gaming Controller for Android will receive a gift of the 3rd Earth Protection Case for Backbone One while stocks last.

The new device is the perfect option for those looking to play PC or console games on the go.

The news follows the recent launch of the Backbone One – Mobile Gaming Controller for Android developed in partnership with Android, and the Backbone One for iPhone (PlayStation Edition here and other platforms here) in 2022.

More info about the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition for Android:

With access to broadband internet and a PS5 or PS4 console, players can plug in their Android to Backbone One and start playing PS4 or PS5 games through the PlayStation Remote Play App. Players will have the ability to lock their gameplay in landscape mode, and easily access the PlayStation app by double tapping on the Options button on their Backbone One controller.

The Backbone App is also available now for Android. For Backbone One – PlayStation Edition for Android users, the app is fully customised for PlayStation including the iconic button glyphs for the menu icons. The app features a dedicated content row that is updated regularly with all the new game releases, news and updates from PlayStation. The Backbone App also elegantly aggregates all your gaming content and services that support controllers, including mobile-native games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Diablo Immortal and services like SteamLink and Nvidia GeForce Now.
