Audrey Cosplay Interview … totally badass!
Welcome to Impulse Gamer Audrey … so tell us how you became involved in Cosplay?
At the time, my roommate and I were planning to go to Otakuthon and we thought “hey! we could try to cosplay for it” and I loved it and didn’t stop since.
What do you love the most about cosplay?
That it allowed me to develop so many new skills, become more confident, meet amazing people. Plus all the fun time creating and wearing the costumes!
Are there any downsides?
Yeah! 3 words: sanding, wig, caps.
To date, what’s been your favourite costume and why?
I would say my Lexa cosplay from the series The 100. I love the character, it’s super comfy, it was fun to make and looks totally badass!
Can you walk us through your costume creation?
- Changing my mind 50 times about which costume I’ll make for the next convention and freak out because I’m super last minute.
- Research… A lot! This is probably the most important part of the process so I can know everything about the outfit and look of the character and which supplies I’ll need, where to get them, etc. It saves me a lot of trouble once I’ve started making the costume.
- I buy all the supplies I’ll need
- I make all the patterns for everything
- I put everything together and hope it works out well
If you had unlimited funds and time, what costume would you create?
If you add all the skills in the world to that question, the answer is the Queen of Blades. It’s a dream cosplay but I haven’t had the chance to experiment with the materials I would need to achieve a nice result.
Who is your favourite comic book or pop culture character and why?
Harley Quinn. Because she’s perfect! <3
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Probably to be able to fly. So I could go anywhere at anytime I want.
When you first see yourself in character… what comes to mind?
Holy crap! I soooo don’t look like myself xD
What TV shows are you currently watching?
The new season of The 100 (you have to watch this show if you haven’t already! ) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Can you tell us what you may be cosplaying in 2016?
I’ve started a few cosplay for this year. I’m working on Yennerfer from The Witcher, Morgana from Merlin, Jibril from No Game No Life and bombshell Harley Quinn. For the rest, I guess it’ll depends on what pops up two weeks before the convention!
Thanks again Audrey!
