Summary: Andy and the Odd Socks the concert tour in Australia is a must destination for fans! 5 Odd Socks out of 5!

Brilliant!

The ultimate kids concert has arrived in Australia as Andy (Day), Moxy (Holly Mallett), Rio (Marcelo Cervone), Blu (Marcus Ramthoul) and Cousin Mac (Stewart McCheyne) as their band, Andy and the Odd Socks, deliver a thoroughly enjoyable, interactive concert with a cool story to boot. And like all good rock stars (including the godfather of rock himself), the Odd Socks give it their utmost best as the audience rocks along with them like the best and brightest stars of the rock world. Needless to say, when the band started singing their theme, Who’s in the Odd Socks, the concert was dialed to 11!

Taking a page from the TV series (Andy and the Band), the team is also joined (albeit remotely) by Andy’s mum (Andy Day), roadie Whiff (Damian Williams) and Emerald (Nandi Bushell) from Planet Rock, including the godfather of rock himself, Brian May, who gives the band his blessing as they perform Planet Rock. Other songs included Spooky, Rock-A-ByeTurn it Up to 11 and Noisy Neville plus a whole lot more, including a few cheeky covers. A great set list of around 20-songs!

The premise behind the concert is that Andy and the Odd Socks have just over one hour to make a new CD with a set number of stipulations thanks to their AI manager. Can they succeed? Of course, they can! They are Andy and the Odd Socks as they add pirates, superheroes, pose like a rock star and their worst song ever… but rest assured, the Odd Socks don’t have a bad song! There’s also a feel-good message about what’s an odd sock and that’s it’s okay to be different which is a nice touch as this is what the Odd Socks are all about.

Add in a “volunteer” parent to dress as a dinosaur (which was hilarious), a giant soccer ball being moved by the audience, lots of dancing and singing, and this is the perfect concert for younger rockers. Additionally, the band didn’t miss a beat as their lyrics boomed through Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, showcasing their mastery of instruments: Blu on bass, Moxy on drums, Rio on guitar, and Cousin Mac on keyboard, who could not be faulted… including frontman Andy Day!

Supporting the presentation was a giant video screen, lighting, and amusing wardrobe changes that saw the Supersocks come to the stage plus a last-minute rescue from a young audience member and this concert was jam-packed with extras and a massive dose of humour and ROCK to take the entertainment to the next level. As kids and adults saw their rock heroes perform on stage, it’s easy to see why Andy and the Odd Socks have become such a staple in both the UK and Australia.

Final Thoughts

The concert was like an interactive episode of Andy and the Band as they played their greatest hits and then some. Add in the flawless singing voices of Andy, Mac, Blu, Rio, and Moxy (not to mention their instruments) and this concert ticked all the right boxes for music and entertainment, creating a presentation enjoyed by everyone as Hamer Hall rocked out to Andy and the Odd Socks!

Highly Recommended!
