Setup

Setup is easy and can be done via the device itself which includes;

Step 1: Plug in Echo Show 8.

Step 2: Connect to the internet using Echo Show 8.

Step 3: Just ask Alexa for music, weather, news and more.

It took me about 5 to 10 minutes as it included a new firmware upgrade but no matter what your tech skills are.

Interface

Alexa has a whole wealth of skills such as being able to see your Ring Video Doorbell, video chats with friends and family, asking it questions, playing games, turning on smart technology – it’s basically limited by your imagination. This new device supports Amazon Photos that allows you to upload photos to this service that serves as a digital photo frame. This is done by uploading your photos via the Alexa app on your smartphone.

“Alexa, start Photo Frame.”

“Alexa, play Taylor Swift”

“Alexa, what is 2 metres in feet”

“Alexa, add milk to my shopping list”

“Alexa, set a 5 minute timer”

“Alexa, play Doctor Mike from YouTube”

“Alexa, play Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter”

“Alexa, what’s the weather today?”

“Alexa, what is a potcake dog?”

The All-new Amazon Echo 8 Show is a super responsive device with great photo and video quality, including decent sound. Even after a few weeks, it’s become a family favourite and our kids (plus the adults) love it. The interface on the device is also simple and with the images and videos, it really improves the experience.

Final Thoughts?

Once again Amazon have refined and tweaked their already great Alexa devices and if you’re looking to upgrade your existing Echo Shows or need a smart assistance with a screen, the all-new Echo 8 (Gen 3) is the device for you! There is also an element of future proofing because it comes with at least four years of updates, including security once the device is no longer available from its official stocklist, Amazon.
