Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset Review
Summary: The Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is an all-round headset that will make your PC games boom!
4.7
Alien audio!
Dubbed Pro-approved and eSports ready by Alienware? Does the new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset achieve these bold claims?
Let’s find out!
Complementing the evolution of their previous gaming headsets (AW310H, AW920H), the new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset ticks all the right boxes when it comes to gaming, both from a hardcore perspective and also eSports angle. From a design point of view and kudos to Alienware, their new headset is built in collaboration with over 100 elite eSport athletes (including Team Liquid) and streamers.
So from their input and that of the design team from Alienware, here is the Pro Wireless Gaming Headset with its cushioned headband, memory foam leatherette earcups, and detachable mic with built-in controls. Additionally, it comes with 50mm Graphene Coated Drivers, Hybrid ANC for active noise cancelling (ANC), Two-mic Noise Cancellation and over 70 hours of battery life via a 2.4Ghz USB dongle connection.
Welcome to the new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset…
Well packaged from Alienware, the headset feels quite sturdy and measures at 205mm (H) x 150mm (W) and 90.2mm (D) with a weight of around 315 grams. The headband and earcups (over the ear) are both made from leatherette with memory foam for additional comfort, and the latter assists with further noise cancellation. From a style perspective, the headset looks gamer and I love the white colouring on this model we reviewed as well which makes it quite distinct – perfect for streamers as well.

Controls are well placed on the bottom of the earcups that include power on/off, 2.4Ghz/Bluetooth pairing button, mic control, volume and ANC on/off. Additionally, it has a USB-C input for wired connectivity. From a charging perspective, it also comes with fast charging and in just 15-minutes, it will give you a power-up of 8-hours so as long as you have access to power, you’ll always have power. On the Bluetooth front, the headset will provide you up to 75 hours or up to 70 hours via 2.4Hz and lastly, up to 35 hours through 2.4Hz with ANC enabled. Another cool feature is that you can customise the battery saver mode which is activated at a certain percentage level.
Setting up the headset works immediately out of the box, however if you want to maximise the device, you do need to install the Alienware Command Centre software (Version 6.4 just released) in order to access the EQ, and Dolby Atmos. This also allows you to set the ANC transparency level so you can adjust background audio to headset audio. In terms of connectivity, you have the option of 2.4Ghz, Bluetooth 5.3 or USB-C and all modes worked well. Although it is a PC headset, it will work with smartphones, the Nintendo Switch and the PS4 and PS5.
On the PC (the primary testing platform), the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset produced an excellent range of audio from its lows, mids and highs thanks to the 50mm graphene-coated drivers. Even the subtleties could be heard more, particularly for games such as Doom Eternal and those other horror titles like Dead Space and Diablo IV. Directional audio is also quite noticeable on this wireless headset that adds to the overall gaming experience.
First person shooters (and expected) performed exceptionally well on the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset with the sounds of bullets, explosions that mirrored a Hollywood blockbuster film – Modern Warfare III, Aliens Fireteam Elite and Fortnite II. Again, all games sounded phenomenal with the headset.
What about consoles? On the PS5, Star Wars Outlaws produced that authentic Star Wars immersion factor and on the cute scale, Astro Bot was like being in an arcade and that game has some awesome music. Speaking of music, streaming music is like having your own live band or orchestra in the earcups and streaming such as Netflix or Disney+ was crisp clear audio.
From an online perspective, the microphone worked well with titles such as Warcraft III: Reforged, Modern Warfare II and Fornite II thanks to the features of the microphones, including its AI Noise Reduction, AI beam forming (including unidirectional). Voice quality was also mirrored on our smartphone as well – so no issues there and more importantly, the tech of the headset reduces background audio quite well so your friends, family and frenemies can clearly hear your voice. Side tone customisation? You betcha as you control how much of your voice you can hear in the earcups. Family and partners will also appreciate the aforementioned transparency mode that allows you to hear the sound being produced from the headset but also your surroundings – so ignoring can be enabled or disabled ;)
Final Thoughts?
If you’re looking to power-up your audio experience, the new Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is jam-packed with features and more importantly is super comfortable and produces exceptionally clear (and loud) audio. If you’re more than a gamer and looking for the next audio artillery for your virtual gaming loadout, this headset marks all the right boxes.
The Alienware Pro Headset will be available in Australia on 9 October 2024
