Kaleidoscope blues!

The Black Blues Brothers are a dazzling spectacle that brings the energy of the Blues Brothers film to life with a unique twist. As a fun fact, this Kenyan acrobat group have toured the world and wowed over 650,000 people, including King Charles and Pope Francis. With that said, their recent performance at The Geelong Arts Centre was nothing short of extraordinary, blending acrobatics, comedy and music into a seamless show that left the audience in awe.

From the moment the five performers stepped onto the stage in their iconic black suits and shades, the atmosphere was electric as they channeled the spirit of both Dan Aykword (Elwood Blues) and John Belushi (Jake Blues) but with a Blues circus spin. Their cheeky interactions with the audience set the tone for the evening, inviting laughter and participation that made everyone feel part of the show. Whether daring audience members to limbo under a stick or pulling an unsuspecting lady into a romantic skit, the performers’ charm and humor were infectious.

However, it’s all about the circus and the acrobatic feats were the true highlight of the night. The timing and precision of their flips, jumps, and “human” pyramids were jaw-dropping. Each stunt was executed with such finesse that it seemed effortless, even as they balanced on chairs or performed handstands atop towering structures. Their ability to combine physical comedy with these demanding stunts added a layer of entertainment that kept the audience engaged throughout.

Of course, the music was a nostalgic treat with classic songs from the Blues Brothers film, including “Do You Love Me,” “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” and even the Perry Mason theme, were woven into the performance, creating a soundtrack that resonated with fans of the movie. Given that, the performers danced and moved to the rhythm, their energy never waning despite the physical demands of their routines.

Final Thoughts?

The Black Blues Brothers delivered an unforgettable experience that showcased their incredible talent and boundless energy. Their ability to blend humor, acrobatics and music into a cohesive and entertaining show is a testament to their skill and dedication. If you ever have the chance to see them perform, don’t miss it—it’s a night of pure joy and amazement.

Highly Recommended!
