Brilliant pictures!
The Dell 27 Plus 4K USB-C Monitor (S2725QC) is a versatile and feature-rich display that caters to a wide range of users, from professionals seeking productivity enhancements to gamers looking for an immersive entertainment experience. With its sleek design, impressive specifications and well-placed connectivity options, this monitor aims to deliver a premium experience at a competitive price point.
At the heart of the S2725QC is its 27-inch 4K UHD IPS panel, which boasts a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. This ensures sharp and detailed visuals, making it ideal for tasks such as photo and video editing, as well as for enjoying high-definition content. The monitor supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz which is a significant improvement over the standard 60Hz found in many 4K monitors. This higher refresh rate enhances the fluidity of motion, particularly in gaming and fast-paced video playback (e.g. 120 frames per second). Additionally, the monitor features AMD FreeSync Premium technology, which minimizes screen tearing and stuttering for a smoother gaming experience.
The color accuracy of the S2725QC is another highlight, with 99% sRGB coverage ensuring vibrant and true-to-life colors. This makes it a reliable choice for creative professionals who require precise color reproduction. The monitor’s brightness level of 350 nits is sufficient for most indoor environments, although it may struggle in very bright settings. The contrast ratio of 1500:1 provides decent differentiation between light and dark areas, though it falls short of the deeper blacks offered by OLED panels.
One of the standout features of the S2725QC is its USB-C connectivity, which supports DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode and delivers up to 65W of power. This makes it an excellent choice for users with USB-C-enabled laptops, as it allows for a single-cable solution for video, data, and charging. The monitor also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, which support 4K resolution at 120Hz, making it compatible with the latest gaming consoles such as the PlayStation 5/Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Additional ports include USB-A and a 3.5mm audio jack, providing flexibility for connecting peripherals.
Unboxing
The design of the S2725QC is both modern and functional. Its slim bezels create a seamless multi-monitor setup, while the adjustable stand allows for height, tilt and swivel adjustments to ensure ergonomic comfort. The build quality is solid, with a premium feel that complements its performance capabilities and I love the colours on our review model. It also has integrated dual 5W speakers that provide decent audio output, though they may not satisfy users seeking a more immersive sound experience – and those users will need external speakers.
In terms of usability, the on-screen display (OSD) menu is intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing users to customize settings to their preferences. The monitor also includes features such as Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) modes, which are particularly useful for multitasking and managing multiple input sources.
Gaming
Titles on the PC such as Final Fantasy XVI, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Dragon Age: The Veil Guard, Star Wars Outlaws and Tekken 8 looked and fantastic on the screen and more importantly, played amazingly well. Colours were vibrant, images super sharp with deep blacks. It’s definitely a great gaming monitor and for streaming and films, the S2725QC provided that personal cinematic experience. Additionally, excel, surfing the net, content creation and photo manipulation were a joy on this display.
Final Thoughts?
In conclusion, the Dell 27 Plus 4K USB-C Monitor (S2725QC) is a well-rounded display that excels in delivering sharp visuals, vibrant colors and versatile connectivity options. Its high refresh rate and FreeSync support make it a compelling choice for gamers, while its color accuracy and 4K resolution cater to creative professionals. Although it may not offer the deep blacks of OLED panels or the highest brightness levels, it strikes a commendable balance between performance and value. Whether you’re working, gaming or streaming, the S2725QC is a reliable and stylish addition to any setup.
