Amazon Announces Alexa+, the Next Generation AI Assistant

Today, Amazon announced Alexa+, our next-generation AI assistant that seamlessly integrates into your life to help you get things done. Leveraging a state-of-the-art architecture that connects LLMs, agentic capabilities, services, and devices at scale, Alexa now enters into a new era, redefining the way we interact with digital assistants.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalised, and gets things done. It’s proactive and has personality, and the more you interact, the better the experience gets.
  • Talking with Alexa+ is smoother and more intuitive, so you no longer need to use just the right phrase to get the right response.
  • Alexa+ seamlessly integrates with tens of thousands of services and devices you use in your daily life—in the U.S., these include GrubHub, OpenTable, Ticketmaster, Yelp, Thumbtack, Vagaro, Fodor’s, TripAdvisor, Amazon, Whole Foods Market, Uber, Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, smart home devices from companies like Philips Hue, Roborock, Lutron; and more.
  • Alexa+ uses devices, context, and knowledge to create an intuitive, proactive, and simple smart home experience. You can control multiple smart devices with a single request, create Alexa Routines entirely by voice, and Alexa will even infer what you mean without an explicit request—like adjusting the temperature on your smart thermostat when you say you’re cold, or dimming the lights when you say it’s too bright.
  • Alexa+ also does many of the things customers already know and love today, but better—you can play music with Amazon, Spotify, and others, but also have broad-ranging conversations with Alexa+ about your favourite artists and their discographies. You can play your favourite movies and TV shows, but also ask questions about specific characters, movies, episodes, soundtracks, and even jump to a specific scene.

Alexa+ represents a significant step forward in AI assistant technology, with even more capabilities, services, and hardware planned for the future.

Alexa+ will be available in English to customers in the U.S. to start, and will roll out to all countries where Alexa is available today. We already have teams around the world—from scientists to engineers—working on localising this experience, and we’ll be excited to share more on Australia and New Zealand availability and the local experience closer to launch.
