Summary: PowerWash Simulator ... find your inner clean

3.5

Mindful washing!

If you’re seeking inner Zen and looking for some gaming mindfulness, look no further because PowerWash Simulator is the perfect panacea for achieving inner peace. The premise behind PowerWash Simulator is simple: you use a high-pressure hose to clean a variety of vehicles, buildings, and objects, with different attachments to complete your hired tasks.

Although it may seem a little basic, achieving the 100% goal is sometimes not as easy as it seems. The game does a good job of informing you what needs to be done through prompts and sounds. Given that this game has become a sleeper hit, you can also access additional DLCs, such as our favorite green ogre’s home from Shrek.

As you progress through the game, the cleaning tasks become more challenging, but strangely, it is quite a satisfying experience. With a hot Australian summer predicted, PowerWash Simulator will give you some virtual cooling as you make everything clean and spotless. The sound of the high-pressure water hose is also quite soothing, as is finishing the job. There is also an element of strategy as you need to use ladders and scaffolding to maximize your cleaning and prevent anything from being missed.

Sometimes, you might get stuck at 95% of your cleaning task, but there is no rage element in this simulator due to its mindfulness aspect. It’s also quite satisfying to see your sparkling clean results. The career mode will take around 15 to 20 hours to complete as you mix and match between hose attachments while earning money for completed jobs that can be used to “level up” your equipment and purchase more cleaning liquids. While a competitive mode would have been fun, where two or more people try to clean the same item, you can complete the career mode in co-op, which is quite enjoyable.

Graphically, PowerWash Simulator is a bit on the simple side, but it suits the premise well. The developers have incorporated a plethora of different locations to keep things interesting for the player. The audio focuses on the cleaning sounds, which go hand-in-hand with the graphics and gameplay.

Final Thoughts

PowerWash Simulator is a relaxing game that combines gaming with mindfulness. I didn’t expect to enjoy this game as much as I did, but it is a very soothing experience that can be played for short or long bursts, especially if you just want to chill.
