Steam Deck Australia – Level up with SanDisk Extreme

Steam Deck officially arrived in Australia on 19-November and our comprehensive review can be found at https://www.impulsegamer.com/steam-deck-oled-review-australia-a-gday-for-australia. However if you’re looking to expand either your 256GB, 512GB or 1TB Steam Deck without voiding the warranty by opening up this handheld PC, then SanDisk have a very easy solution. Cue in the SanDisk Extreme microSD card that comes in a variety of sizes (up to 1TB) with a fast read time of 190MB/s and a write time of 130MB/s.

To install the microSD into your Steam Deck, you simply push it into the card slot on this console until it clicks in.

Once installed into the Steam Deck, you need to format the card by going to settings, system and then choosing Format SD Card. The 256GB SanDisk Extreme microSD card was formatted in just under a minute and once completed, my Steam Deck had an additional 256GB of storage for games. It’s that simple!

The Steam Deck is an awesome handheld console that is great for retro games, indie games and even some Triple A titles. However if you’re running out of space, then the SanDisk Extreme microSD card provides an excellent affordable storage level-up around $42AUD (November 2024)!
