THE POWER FANTASY SEES MULTIPLE SELL-OUTS AGAIN THIS WEEK, RUSHED BACK TO PRINT

Power fantasy or powerhouse? Both issue #1 and #2 of the bestselling series The Power Fantasy by Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, Die, Darth Vader, forthcoming We Called Them Giants) and Caspar Wijngaard (Home Sick Pilots, All Against All) have sold out completely at the distributor level. They are being rushed back to print this week in order to keep up with escalating demand.

“For the fourth printing of Issue 1, we wanted to highlight the complexities of Valentina in a set. She’s an angel… but is she really? For the third printing of issue 2, we thought we’d highlight some of the cover designs Rian cooked up for the series when we were pulling it together. In fact, we liked this basic layout so much it’s a strong influence on the trade cover when it drops,” said Gillen. “Also: thanks for all the support. This is a lot of printings for a book, and to see this thing which means everything to us finding an audience is a joy.”

Wijngaard added: “‘It’s so incredible that we’re still finding new readers, five reprints across two issues before the third has even hit the shelves is wild! Thank you all for the continued support!”

There are six people who can save the world. They save the world every day they don’t use their powers. Yesterday, one used their gift. The world is still here. Have we been lucky, or has the fuse to end us all been lit?

Select praise for The Power Fantasy:

“I can tell a couple pages into a book if it has legs—if the writing’s good, if the art is well done, and if it’s going to find an audience. However, when I got to the end of the first issue of Power Fantasy I knew that I was looking at the better version of that. A book constructed with artfulness and nuance and a care that borders on being obsessive. This is a good one, folks, and it has my highest recommendation.” —Jonathan Hickman, X-Men, The Black Monday Murders

“The jaw-dropping climax of the first issue takes an already great read and shoots this book into the stratosphere. An absolute must-read comic by two of the absolute best in the business.” —James Tynion IVThe Department of Truth, Something Is Killing The Children

“It’s intense, yet understated, and gripping. Ripe with the potential for drama, intrigue, nuance, depth, and meaning, The Power Fantasy is primed to explode superhero comics.” —ComicBook.com

“If you like your comics full of big ideas, laced with dark humor and the unnerving sense that the end of the world is just one family squabble away, this one’s for you.” —GamesRadar

“A brilliant opening issue that brings a desperately needed new approach to a well-worn comics genre trope. Kieron Gillen’s script is complex, intelligent, and deeply compelling, offering the smartest take on superpowered beings in years. The visuals from Caspar Wijngaard are stunningly detailed, finely directed, and wildly colorful, all combining to make possibly the best debut comic of the year so far.” —Monkeys Fighting Robots

“Thought-provoking and dynamic in equal measures, with outstanding art. 10/10” —Comicon.com

“A rich and rewarding story about existential questions when super powered gods walk amongst us… In a world where nuclear war is still possible and war rages overseas, The Power Fantasy feels well-timed and apt.” —AIPT

“One of those comics that instantly gripped me the moment I read the first few pages.” —GonkBonk

“A perfect debut issue.” —Graphic Policy

“This book is one of the best new titles I’ve read in years. A fiercely smart and original take on superheroes that speaks to all the wonder and terror of this exact moment.” —Scott Snyder

The Power Fantasy is the strong front runner for indie book of the year. Kieron and Caspar are going hard at building something big and important and the end result is as ambitious as it is beautiful and engrossing. Order it today. Trust me.” —Matt Rosenberg

The Power Fantasy is…I think a relevant examination of how many decisions are happening to save us from the worst possible results, even though we think we’re already in “The Wrong Timeline”. It’s something I have never asked myself, and the question is compelling. I want to know the answer. They’re going to show me, and as a lover of character journeys, I’m willing to pay cash to be taken on a ride. This may also simply be something cool AF and I don’t want to miss out on the conversation!” —Joseph P. Illidge

“My reaction to The Power Fantasy #1: desperately considering what its creators might accept in exchange for telling me what happens next.” —Charles Soule

“I got to read the first issue and it is, unsurprisingly, extraordinary. Infuriatingly so. A sleek narrative bullet that rides the slipstream of superhero expectations to arrive with a jarring impact, all parts of it working flawlessly together.” —Jed McKayMoon Knight, Avengers

“A phenomenal debut with everything you love about comics. Great story/art/letters/design & my favorite colors in a long while. The Power Fantasy is an epic that will blow the doors off comic shops.” —Gerry DugganX-Men

The Power Fantasy does for superhero comics what Saga did for Sci-fi. Features amazing characters, one hell of a crunchy hook & features career best art from Caspar. This is going to be the start of something BIG.” —Christian Ward

“I had the chance to read the first issue, and it’s amazing. The lore is deep and we want to know more, the characters are originals.” —Margaux SaltelLe Royaume d’Après, Star Wars Adventures
