G’day Blink!

Simple & Affordable: Blink launches in Australia with its popular home security cameras

Local launch sees introduction of Blink Outdoor 4 and Blink Mini 2 to Australia and New Zealand

Powered by Blink’s custom chip, Blink’s feature-rich cameras deliver exceptional and affordable home security

Thanks to the chip technology, the Outdoor 4 features up to two years of battery life, with just two AA batteries

Blink smart home security, an Amazon company, today announces its launch into Australia and New Zealand, offering its range of popular smart security cameras locally, featuring up to two years of battery life. Customers can now purchase Blink products and accessories, including Blink Outdoor 4 and Blink Mini 2, in-store exclusively from Bunnings Warehouse and on Amazon.com.au.

This launch comes as new local research shows the desire from Australians for home security products, with over 83% of Australians stating they are willing to invest in home security annually. However, at a time when many are feeling the pinch from cost-of-living pressures, 43% say cost is a barrier, with Australians overall only willing to invest an average of $292 annually.

The new Blink range offers an affordable solution for local customers with prices starting at just AU$69. These Wi-Fi connected cameras make home security simple – set up is easy and customers can monitor their home from anywhere by seeing, hearing, and speaking to visitors directly through the free Blink app on their smartphone. Blink’s cameras are designed for every home and offer up to two years of battery life with just two AA batteries, as well as local storage options.

Blink’s custom-built proprietary chip is at the core of its products. The chip is expertly designed to save power, extending battery life up to an impressive two years for Blink’s wireless camera, Outdoor 4, while also enabling smart notifications with powerful features like person detection through on-device computer vision. With person detection, a Blink Subscription Plus Plan feature, you’ll get notified whenever a person is detected (versus an object or an animal).

“We know that Aussies want to invest in home security products but that cost-of-living pressures are impacting us all. We’re thrilled to launch Blink in Australia and New Zealand, bringing our customers more feature-packed options at incredible value,” said Mark Fletcher, Blink Managing Director, APAC. “For those considering the installation of a smart home security system, the Outdoor 4 and Mini 2 cameras from Blink are an ideal, and affordable, place to start.”

Blink’s launch in Australia will include the following products:

Blink Outdoor 4 – Wireless Outdoor Camera with up to Two-Years of Battery Life and Enhanced Motion Detection – from AU$149 and available in one, two, three or five packs

  • Blink Outdoor 4 is a battery-powered outdoor camera which delivers high image quality at 1080p for HD live view, infrared night vision, crisp two-way audio, and a wide field-of-view. The versatile camera also features advanced dual-zone motion detection — so customers can get alerted to motion more quickly, right from the app on their smartphones. All image processing takes place locally, on-device, with just two AA batteries providing up to two years of battery life.
  • Outdoor 4 comes with the Blink Sync Module 2, allowing customers to conveniently control up to 10 Blink cameras from the Blink app — and view, share, and store motion events locally, for no additional fee. The Sync Module 2 plugs into an electrical outlet and connects to Wi-Fi, and events are stored on a USB drive (sold separately). Clips stored locally will stay until deleted manually. The Sync Module 2 is required for Outdoor 4, and comes included in the one-, two-, three- or five-camera packs, starting from AU$149. The Sync Module 2 also available separately for AU$79.

Blink Mini 2 – Plug-in Indoor / Outdoor Camera with HD Night View in Colour and Built-in Spotlight – from AU$69 and available in one or two packs

  • Blink Mini 2 is a compact, plug-in camera that offers enhanced image quality of 1080p HD live view, a wide field of view, a built-in LED spotlight with HD night view in colour, crisp two-way audio, and motion detection.
  • Mini 2’s weather-resistant design allows it to be used outdoors as well, when purchased with the Blink Weather Resistant Power Adaptor – sold separately for just AU$19 or as part of a bundle with the Mini 2, starting at AU$79. This 4m adapter can also be used to provide non-stop power for Blink Outdoor 4.

Unlock Even More with a Blink Subscription

Blink customers can make the most of their smart security with a Blink Subscription Plan. Customers can save and share clips and view live recordings from their Blink devices conveniently in the cloud with unlimited cloud storage for up to 60 days. A Blink Subscription Plan also provides access to advanced features like person detection, Blink Moments (Plus Plan only), and more – all through the Blink app on your smartphone.

Customers who purchase a Blink camera will receive a 30-day free trial of Blink’s Subscription Plan, and there are two tiers available – Basic and Plus – starting from $5 per month for Basic and $15 per month for Plus.

Additional Blink Features and Benefits

  • HD Video Quality: Blink cameras are equipped with crisp 1080p HD day and night video which enables real-time live view right from the Blink app.
  • Two-Way Audio: Blink cameras feature two-way audio, allowing customers to hear and speak to loved ones and pets from the Blink app, no matter where they are.
  • Easy to Set Up and Use: Blink’s suite of easy-to-use devices can be set up in minutes with step-by-step instructions in the free Blink app.
  • Motion Detection: In the Blink app, customers can enable motion detection to receive motion alerts on their mobile device. Customers can also create customised Activity Zones, so they are only alerted to the movement they care about. This eliminates unwanted notifications and allows customers to choose what areas of their properties are recorded.
  • Blink Moments: Available via Blink Subscription Plus Plan, Blink Moments is a video viewing experience that automatically combines clips captured across Blink cameras into a streamlined video. Blink Moments deliver added value by combining captured footage into one condensed story which users can easily download to their smartphone via the Blink app and share it anywhere – from social media to the family group chat.
  • Works with Alexa: Alexa customers can use the Alexa Blink Smart Home Skill to connect their Blink cameras to an Echo device and receive alerts, check live view on-demand, arm and disarm their camera, and more.

Built with Privacy and Customer Control in Mind
Blink customers can control all privacy settings through the Blink app. This includes the set-up of Activity Zones, capturing only what they want and exclude areas like a busy street that may surround their property. All image processing takes place locally, on-device.
