ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses Review
The search for cool products never ends and on a bright sunny day, I Google stumbled upon the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses that looked the part of something cool. Besides the excellent protection that these sunglasses offer your eyes – photochromic, UV400 and polarised lenses, they are not only ultralight but aesthetically, the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses looks fantastic – as in something that Tony Stark (Iron Man) might wear!
With that said, they distance themselves from its competitors and best of all, they are also unisex sunglasses that come in three colours, Phantom Black, Gun Metal and Royal Silver. Besides the “Hero” (which is seen above), ActiveDim also offers two other models, The Pioneer and the classic Aviator.
Further, the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses are affordably priced at just $94AUD (August 2024) that can be purchased from https://activedim.com with a 3-year warranty. At present, ActiveDim does not support prescription lenses, however they are investigating this as a future option which is great for those who need optometrist prescribed eyewear. As the lenses offer a UV400 rating for protection, this protects you from three spectrums of ultraviolet radiation that include UVA, UVB and UVC.
ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses Highlights

Build Quality? The overall quality of the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses felt well-built and sturdy which mirrors the price range of this product. The sunglasses also came with a lightweight case which did cause a few zip issues at times plus a cleaner and also cloth bag plus two replacement nose pads.
The most noticeable feature of the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses is the photochromic lenses that adjust the tint based on the light source. For example, if it is very sunny, they will darken, however on an overcast day or at night, they will brighten up. And keen readers may have noticed that I used the word night which means yes, these sunglasses can be used at night in order to reduce glare.
When it comes to comfort, the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses are very comfortable and they fit well on my head and face without any adjustment needed. As they are ultralight thanks to its aluminium and magnesium frame (which also makes them ultra-tough), you don’t even feel that you are wearing them most of the time. So whether you’re sporting, holidaying or at a wedding, the sunglasses will suit any occasion.
As the glasses support photochromic and polarized lenses, you can really notice the difference in lighting and more importantly it makes the world clearer and more colourful, all while protecting your eyes from ultraviolet radiation. I also liked the way it transitioned from light to dark or dark to light which is quite a flawless experience. Although they have decent coverage of your eyes, if the sun is intensely bright and glaring directly you at, they could be a bit darker and that is my only gripe with the ActiveDim Hero.
Final Thoughts?
All in all, the ActiveDim Hero Sunglasses offer a wealth of real-world features to improve and protect your vision which also look great as well! Could be a bit darker in brighter light however.
