Spinning fun!
The “old school” (now reborn for “new school”) 90’s phenomenon BEYBLADE has returned again in 2024 which also marks this franchise’s 25th anniversary to unveil a revamped toy line – in other words, you can’t keep a good toy down! But the celebration doesn’t stop there because in August, there is also a new Beyblade animated series that will premiere on 9GO as it follows amateur Blader, Robin Kazami who has been ditched by his friends after suffering a crushing defeat but befriends an unlikely rival and here’s a taster….

For those living under a rock or a stack of toys, Beyblade allows kids (and adults) the ability to pit Beyblade against Beyblade (e.g. spin tops) that are unleashed by “ripping” the cord as they spin around in the arena duking it out. However there is skill involved with your spins which does add an element of strategy into your play. So by adding different angles or places to land your spin tops, this will affect how they challenge the other Beyblade. The last Beyblade spinning is the victor!
In Australia, The Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Set retails for around $120AUD (July 2024) and it comes with;

Setting up the stadium is super easy – remove the cardboard, ensure the barrier is clipped in, put your Beyblades together and start ripping those cords. A slow rip will make your Beyblade spin slowly, however a fast rip will make it spin faster and I love the noise they make as well. Needless to say, it’s super fun to watch your Beyblades race and battle it out. There are also instructions and of course tutorial videos to help bring it all together for you.
The Beystadium also influences speed and direction which makes it such a fun game to play. The speed of these new Beyblades is achieved by the new X-Celerator Rail gear innovation which makes them race, crash and battle at insane speeds. Further, you can buy different Beyblades that perform differently which really increases the replay value and best of all, reduces screen time. So like Pokémon, gotta catch em all. Also supporting the player are the die cast metal tops which showcase the model you are using.
Parents will also appreciate that the stadium is a sturdy product from Hasbro as are the Beyblades, the launchers and the rip cords. It’s super cool that stadium is portable which means kids can take this to their friends and on holidays to give them something fun to do. Hasbro also take the franchise to the digital arena because each Beyblade has a code on them and by scanning them via the app, it allows you to take your spin top online.

The new Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Set is super fun and my kids and I had a competitive ball. Best of all, anyone can pick up a Beyblade and start playing. So do you have what it takes to become the next Beymaster?
