First Guests Announced For Oz Comic-Con Perth – May 11th & 12th

Fans of all things from the wide world of pop culture are in for a treat as Oz Comic-Con kicks off another year with announcements of epic proportions. Featuring everything from film activations and hands-on opportunities with upcoming games to celebrity Q&As and a showcase of art from homegrown talent, the 2024 season is sure to leave an impression.

The return of Oz Comic-Con to Western shores back in 2023 saw the community back together under one roof, indulging in a showcase of the latest and greatest that pop culture has to offer. As nature is healing, Oz Comic-Con is thrilled to be doing it all again with a weekend of festivities planned for May 11th & 12th at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre (PCEC).

Though the extended guest lineup is still to be announced, voice actors Aaron Dismuke (Fullmetal Alchemist, RWBY, My Hero Academia) and Sarah Wiedenheft (Dragon Ball Super, Chainsaw Man, Black Clover) lead the first wave of announcements, bringing a wealth of knowledge and an immense character portfolio to fans.

From the realms of literature and illustration, Amanda Bridgeman is confirmed and will be joined by Wolfgang Bylsma of Gestalt and Scott Wilson of Comics on Country. As for cosplay, avid creators and tinkerers can also meet JusZ Cosplay and Kirilee Cosplay, who will be showcasing some of their latest creations and offering advice for enthusiasts.

Speaking of cosplay, there is an opportunity to enter one of the most prestigious cosplay contests in Australia, the Australian Championships of Cosplay, which highlights the immense talent and craftsmanship from every stretch of the country. Perth took out the top spot on the podium in 2023, with Giorgia Costumes crowned overall champion.

Perth will be the first installment, with qualifying winners battling it out in the final round in Sydney for the chance to be crowned Australian Champion of Cosplay for 2024.

Alongside the Lip Sync and So You Think You Can Just Dance competitions, attendees can expect a full weekend bursting with energy, including staple pillars such as industry talks and panels, free play gaming opportunities, workshops and lashings of retail opportunities with exclusive pop culture merchandise that can’t be found anywhere else.
