A Who’s Who Of Supa-Stars: Jodie Whittaker, ‘The Boys’ Stars & More Announced For Melbourne & Gold Coast 2024!
The countdown to Supanova #100 in late 2024 has begun with Australia’s largest, best, most successful, and longest-running pop culture expo, Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, announcing a veritable Who’s Who of Supa-Star guests leading the charge towards Supanova #95 in Melbourne (6-7 April 2024) and Supanova #96 on the Gold Coast (13-14 April 2024).
Making the trip through time and space to appear on Sunday only in both cities is Jodie Whittaker, best known for her iconic performance as the Thirteenth Doctor in Doctor Who. Assuming the prestigious mantle across three seasons and multiplespecials of the hit show, Whittaker is otherwise known for her work on the popular British crime drama Broadchurch, and most recently starred in the second season of BBC One’s Time.
From one small-screen legend to another, Supa-Fans will not want to miss fellow first-time Supa-Star Giancarlo Esposito. With over 200 credits to his name, Esposito rose to mainstream prominence as Gustavo “Gus” Fring in Breaking Bad and its acclaimed spin-off, Better Call Saul. He has since gone from strength to strength, portraying Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, and corporate antagonist Stan Edgar in Amazon’s The Boys.
Joining the Vought International exec is The Boys’ “Female of the Species” Kimiko Miyashiro a.k.a. returning Supa-Star Karen Fukuhara. Visiting Supanova for the first time since breaking out as Katana in Suicide Squad, Fukuhara has since starred in the satirical Amazon hit, as well as lending her voice to Glimmer in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and Lady Himi in Hayao Miyazaki’s upcoming The Boy and the Heron.
Also set to return is another magical fan-favourite, Hogwarts’ very own Evanna Lynch. The Irish actress captured the hearts of audiences as Luna Lovegood in the blockbuster Harry Potter film franchise, before going on to be nominated for multiple awards – including the IFTA Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role – for My Name is Emily.
After being unable to attend this year’s Melbourne and Gold Coast events, voice-acting legend Phil LaMarr is thrilled to make it up to Supa-Fans in April 2024. Best known as Justice League’s Green Lantern, Futurama’s Hermes Conrad, as well as the titular hero in Samurai Jack, LaMarr is joined by fellow industry heavyweights Gregg Berger of Transformers and Garfield fame, and Jeremy Shada a.k.a. Adventure Time lead Finn the Human.
Meanwhile, Spidey-Fans will have the opportunity to meet one of Marvel’s most influential creators. International artist Mike Zeck, renowned for his essential Spider-Man and definitive Kraven the Hunter storyline, Kraven’s Last Hunt, will sign autographs in both cities, with more international comic guests still to be announced.
Finally, rounding out this first wave of Supa-Stars is literary legend T. Kingfisher, the adult fiction pseudonym of Ursula Vernon(creator of the Eisner-nominated Digger and Dragonbreath). Kingfisher’s debut adult horror novel, The Twisted Ones, won the 2020 Dragon Award for Best Horror Novel, and was followed by the critically acclaimed The Hollow Places.
