realme rolls out realme UI 2.0 update, based on Android 11, to devices

realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, has announced its plan to roll out realme UI 2.0 across a range of devices including the realme 7 Pro, realme 7 5G, X3 SuperZoom, realme 6 and realme C12.

The update is based on Android 11 and includes feature improvements to personalisation, security and privacy, and system and launcher settings to name a few. With the upgrade now comes the ability to share personal hotspots with others via a QR code making it easier than ever before.

realme customers can now personalise their phone like never before. Users now have the capacity to tailor the interface to how they would like it and can even create their own wallpapers by selecting colours from images.

Additionally, in the age where our devices are a constant source of distraction, users can now select time periods to switch the device to Do Not Disturb which allows people to ‘switch off’ from digital distractions.

Speaking of the new user interface, realme Australia Managing Director, Andy Yang said: “As a business our mission is to provide the best pound for pound consumer technology experience on the market. Not only does this mean great hardware, but great software too. realme UI 2.0 is the next phase of that journey, bringing consumers new and exciting features optimised specifically for the realme device they are using.”

The rollout will occur in stages over the coming months, with the update available now for realme 7 5G and X3 SuperZoom users. realme 7 Pro users can expect to receive the upgrade in August 2021, followed by the realme 6 and realme C21 devices which will be able to access the upgrade later in Q3 2021. Other models, such as the realme C3 and realme C21, will also receive the upgrade, with exact timings to be confirmed.

The upgrade includes:

Personalisations

  • Personalise the user interface to make it your own
  • Create your own wallpaper by picking colours from your photos.
  • Pin Third-party icons for apps on the home screen.
  • Implement any one of three Dark mode styles (enhanced, medium and gentle). Wallpapers and icons can also be adjusted to Dark mode; and the display contrast can be adjusted automatically to ambient light.

High Efficiency

  • Drag text, images or files out of a floating window or from one app to another app in Split screen mode.
  • Optimise the editing page of Smart Sidebar: Two tabs are displayed and the order of items can be customised.

System

  • Execute “Tone tunes”: Consecutive notification tones will be linked to form a single melody.
  • Determine a time period when Do Not Disturb is on.
  • View weather animations to provide a more interactive experience.
  • Experience optimised vibration effects for text input and gameplay.

Launcher

  • Remove a folder or combine it with another one.

Security and Privacy

  • Trigger “App lock” on or off in Quick Settings.
  • Display your personal emergency information to first responders, even when your screen is locked.
  • Enhance privacy controls with “Permission manager”: You can now choose “Allow only once” for sensitive permissions to better protect your privacy.

Games

  • Reduce disturbances while gaming with “Immersive Mode” allowing you to stay focused on the game.
  • Personalise the Game Assistant call-up method.

Communications

  • You can share your personal hotspot with others via a QR code.

Photos

  • Sync the photos in your Private Safe to the cloud via Cloud Sync.
  • Experience improved photo editing features with upgraded algorithms and more markup effects and filters.

HeyTap Cloud

  • Back up your photos, documents, system settings and more, making it easier to migrate to a new phone.
  • Select the types of data to be backed up or restored.
  • Create multiple backups for your phone.

Camera

  • Harness the “Inertial Zoom” feature which makes zooming smoother during video shooting.
