SIZZLING SUMMER BLOCKBUSTERS AT EVENT CINEMAS THIS FEBRUARY
Event Cinemas are turning up the heat this February with a sizzling selection of blockbusters and special events at cinemas across Australia.
Thursday 6 February – Birds of Prey: After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. Starring Margot Robbie and Ewan McGregor.
Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 February – André Rieu: 70 Years Young: Curated by the maestro himself – Andre’s unique anniversary celebration will take you on an unbelievable journey around the world with some of his most memorable and beloved concert performances including Schönbrunn Vienna, Radio City Music Hall New York and the Coronation Concert in Amsterdam in their full glory on the cinema screen.
Wednesday 12 February – Ghost Chicks at the Flicks: Head to Event Cinemas for the February instalment of Chicks at the Flicks and enjoy the 30th anniversary screening of Ghost. Every ticket receives a bonus gift bag, so get your friends together for a fun night at the movies.
Thursday 13 February – Richard Jewell: During the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, security guard Richard Jewell discovers a suspicious backpack under a bench. With little time to spare, he helps to evacuate the area. Hailed as a hero who saved lives, Jewell’s own life starts to unravel when the FBI names him the prime suspect in the bombing. Starring Olivia Wilde, Jon Hamm and Kathy Bates.
Thursday 13 February – Sonic: The Hedgehog: A live-action adventure comedy based on the video game franchise that centres on the brash, bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski. Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. Starring James Marsden and Jim Carrey.
Thursday 13 February – Emma: Jane Austen’s beloved classic novel about finding your equal and earning your happy ending is reimagined in this new film adaptation. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.
Thursday 13 February – Fantasy Island: In Blumhouse’s new spin on Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team – and later its leader – Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master. Starring Harrison Ford and Karen Gillan.
Thursday 20 February – The Rhythm Section: Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. When Stephanie discovers that the crash was not an accident, she enters a dark, complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and find her own redemption.
Thursday 27 February – Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears: In her debut cinematic adventure, join detective-extraordinaire, the Hon. Miss Phryne Fisher, as she embarks on a globe-trotting romp of mystery and mayhem across the exotic 1920s deserts of the Negev, glamorous manor-house ballrooms, and the darkened back alleys of London.
Thursday 27 February – The Invisible Man: Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Elizabeth Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding. As a series of eerie coincidences turn lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.
