2020 CES: Intel Brings Innovation to Life with Intelligent Tech Spanning the Cloud, Network, Edge and PC

Today, Intel announced a range of innovative products and services at CES, Las Vegas. The infusion of intelligence in modern technology spans across the Cloud, Network, Edge and PC to positively impact our society, business and people.

Bob Swan, CEO at Intel, started today’s press conference with updates from its Mobileye business, with a video demo of its self-driving RoboCar, highlighting the safer mobility using artificial intelligence to pave the way for autonomous driving.

Swan also included Intel’s work with the American Red Cross, highlighting their ambition to create world-changing technology that will enrich lives and aid in humanitarian relief efforts. The Missing Maps Project is significant as it helps The American Red Cross use AI technology to better prepare for disaster planning and emergency response, which affect over 200 million people a year, by allowing response teams to locate affected areas more quickly and effectively.

Intelligence-Driven Business Transformation, announced by Executive Vice President Navin Shenoy, includes:

  • Intel and Netflix accelerating video streaming services utilising Intel’s 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, improving the cost-effective delivery of high-quality Netflix livestream video to subscribers.
  • Enhanced athlete and viewer experiences at Tokyo 2020 Olympics using AI technology and Intel Xeon Scalable processors to analyse the biomechanics of athletes’ movements and evolving the way audiences experience and view sports.
  • First large scale, cloud-based streaming volumetric video, transforming the sports reviewing experience using Intel’s True View™ technology. Intel and the NFL showcase the power of cloud-based streaming volumetric videos. This allows fans to see the action happen from multiple perspectives.

Further to the above, Intel Executive Vice President Gregory Bryant announced several updates to its Intelligence-Driven Mobile Computing, including:

  • First demonstration of Intel’s latest mobile processor, “Tiger-Lake”, offering double digit performance gains, massive AI performance improvements, a huge leap in graphics performance Preview of first Xe-based discrete GPU, codenamed “DG1.”
  • Significant updates to the Project Athena initiative, including the verification of the first Project Athena Chromebooks. Intel has so far verified 25 Project Athena designs, and this is expected to rise to 50 verifications this year.
  • Form factor innovation based on Intel Core processors, including dual screens and foldable designs like the like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and Dell Concept Duet.
