Forza Motorsport 2
Forza Motorsport 2 is probably the most
realistic racing simulator on the market that has been created by
developer Turn 10 and offers one of the most thrilling and realistic
racing experiences on the XBox 360 that has not been matched since Gran
Turismo on the PlayStation 2. However unlike the Gran Turismo series,
Forza Motorsport 2 features authentic damage and accurate driving
physics that go hand-in-hand with the photo-realistic graphics to truly
immerse you into the world of racing.
The
control system of the game is perfect on the cordless XBox 360 remote
control and for those have the official XBox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel,
well my friend then you are really into something special. With the
standard controller, the shoulder buttons are used brake and accelerate
with the analog sticks used to steer. You can also change your views
with the Y button, depending on your preferred style.
The
main crux of the game is that Forza Motorsport 2 is a realistic racing
simulation which means depending on your level of difficulty, cars
accurately react
to the conditions of the road and the driver. That is, the harder you
handle your cars, the more likely they are to become damaged which
effects the way you can drive.
For instance, crashing into a wall will
effect a variety of attributes on your car such as your suspension, tyres and handling. The developers have also ensured that you get a real
sense of speed while racing the various tracks in the game, however this
depends on which view you select, whether in-car or an over-head view.
With
over 60 tracks from around the world with 13-real world tracks that
include Silverstone Circuit and Laguna, the tracks are quite diverse,
ensuring that gamers will have their favourites. Some of the licensed
tracks look quite stunning, however there are some tracks that look
quite sparse but fortunately the detailed car models more than make up
for this.
The
best part of Forza Motorsport 2 is that all the cars are licensed and
with over 300 cars to choose from, the developers have ensured that all
companies and cars get enough air time to keep even the most staunchest of
car fans happy. Manufacturers such as Ferrari, General Motors and Nissan
are just a few of the manufactures in the game.
Apart from a variety of
cars from around the world, including different ages, really
enthusiastic gamers can also upgrade and tweak their cars in the garage.
This is done by winning races or even just racing that awards the gamer
with “driving experience points” for gamers to purchase new tyres, turbo
systems or even new cars.
Graphically, Forza Motorsport 2 is visually stunning on the XBox 360
that maintains a sturdy 60 frames per second with four times full-screen
anti-aliasing at an outstanding resolution of 720p. The result is
photo-realistic graphics and to make things even more compelling, all
the cars have been accurately recreated from their real-world
counterparts.
The
car models of Forza Motorsport 2 are easily the most realistic graphics
that I have ever encountered in a racing title and looks quite stunning
on a high definition TV. Unlike competitor titles, Forza also offers
real-time damage to your vehicles that in turn effects your driving
which adds to the realism of the title. Even the special effects such as
the motion blur or reflective surfaces come together to create something
unique. The only downside to the graphics are the sometimes lackluster
background environments that range from sparse to detailed.
Forza
Motorsport 2 also contains a great soundtrack for the menus of title and
match that with a variety of realistic engine sounds and all the sounds
of tyres shrieking on the road or crashing at high speeds and sliding
onto the sand, developers Turn 10 have flawlessly implemented these
niceties successfully into the title.
In
conclusion, Forza Motorsport 2 is definitely a must have title for
gamers that simply want to race a plethora of cars, whether through
arcade or simulation. Go our and buy this title now! Vroooooooooom! |
