Highlander the Search for Vengeance

I've been a huge fan of the Highlander mythology, from the movies (except the second one) to the television series and other spin offs. When I heard that Highlander has received a anime makeover, I was in Highland heaven and last week, I finally got to witness my high expectations.

This current incarnation revolves around Colin MacLeod who has vowed to kill Marcus Octavius, another immortal who murdered his wife and destroyed his town. 2000 years later, MacLeod is still hunting Octavius and it's now the not so distant future where Octavius is under control of New York City.

The animation in the series is great but what really sets this series apart from other titles is the black humour that is littered throughout the series. My most memorable seen is when MacLeod is holding is dying wife who urges her husband not to seek revenge as it will only destroy him, MacLeod promises but when she passes, he adds a few words about revenge.

As the story progresses, MacLeod finds out that his wife has been reincarnated countless times and is currently living as prostitute to compound the situation for our hero. The series has graphic violence, sex and an extremely in-depth yet sometimes clichéd story that is definitely recommend to all anime lovers.
