Clint Eastwood the Enforcer

Client Eastwood returns again on Blu-Ray, however this time it involves the third installment of the "Dirty Harry" series as Detective Harry Callaghan as  his partner Kate (Tyne Daly) get caught in a war with a terrorist underground group who kidnap the Mayor of San Francisco and once again it is up to Dirty Harry with his unique and rough methods of justice to save the day. Although not the strongest films in the series, The Enforcer is quite action driven and at times, the plot is rather slow to move, however what saves the day in the film is Clint Eastwood who was born for this role.

The relationship between Harry and Kate seems forced at times, even though there is a few moments between the two and some interesting side plots such as Callaghan's superiors finally questioning his methods of justice. There is also a great one-liner from Eastwood regarding his new partner's capabilities which still brought a smile to my face. What makes this movie so impressive is the video and audio transfer that has been digitally re-mastered for Blu-Ray and looks and sounds exceptional.

For a film that is over 30 years old, you will definitely appreciate the digital re-mastering as the picture quality is quite sharp as are the colours of the movie. The Dolby Digital TrueHD 5.1 audio track is superb and the Dirty Harry series has probably never sounded better than this edition of the movie.

The extras of The Enforcer features an in-depth commentary by director James Fargo, a featurette entitled "The Business End: Violence in Cinema" which looks at violence through the history of motion pictures, trailers and also some galleries which look quite impressive on this media format.

Although not the greatest Dirty Harry movie, The Enforcer has its moments and will definitely find a new audience due to its digitally re-mastered nature and original fans will also jump on this bandwagon.

Dirty Harry is back!
